Why San Fran Cafe sells olive oil

From Our Family in Italy to Your Kitchen

At San Fran Cafe, Italian food has always started with good ingredients. Through a family connection in Roccadaspide, Italy, we’re now bringing Frantoio Quaglia Extra Virgin Olive Oil directly to our customers in Canada.

This isn’t a product we found in a catalogue. It’s oil from a town our family knows, made by a mill that’s been pressing olives since 1901 — the same kind of oil we’d want in our own kitchen.

If You Care What Goes Into Your Body, Start Caring Where Your Cooking Oil Comes From.

Your cooking oil ends up in meal after meal. It’s on your salad, under your pasta, over your vegetables — every single day.

“Extra virgin” written on the front of a bottle shouldn’t be the end of your questions. A bottle can look Italian without telling you much about where the oil itself came from.

  • Ask where the olives came from.
  • Ask where the oil was produced.
  • Ask who made it.
  • Ask whether the origin is actually traceable.
Don’t buy a health halo. Buy something you can verify.

We wanted something different. With Quaglia, we know the producer. We know the town. We know where the olives are grown, and we know where the oil is made.

That matters — because when something goes into nearly everything you cook, “trust us” isn’t good enough. You should be able to point to a place on the map.

Know the oil. Know the producer. Know where it came from.

Frantoio Oleario Quaglia · Roccadaspide, Italy

More Than 100 Years of Olive Oil

The Quaglia mill traces its history back to 1901. For more than a century, the family has pressed the olives of Roccadaspide into oil using traditional methods: hand-picked fruit, stone mills, and cold extraction that protects everything the olive has to give.

The soil, the climate and the hillside exposure around Roccadaspide shape the fruit; the mill’s patience does the rest. It’s the kind of place where making oil isn’t a business plan — it’s simply what the family has always done.

What it’s like

Balanced. Fruity. Made for Food.

No wine-snob vocabulary required. This is a balanced Italian extra virgin olive oil with a light fruity aroma and a pleasant, food-friendly flavour — made to go on dinner, not on a pedestal.

Aroma

A light, fresh fruitiness — the producer describes gentle notes of fruit rather than heavy grassiness.

Taste

Balanced and pleasant, with the gentle bitter-and-peppery finish that good extra virgin olive oil is supposed to have.

On the plate

Green with golden reflections. At its best drizzled raw over vegetables, soups, legumes, grilled meat and fish.

Honest value

Premium Italian EVOO, Without the Luxury-Store Markup

The value here doesn’t come from discounts. It comes from how the oil gets to you.

Direct connection

A family link to the producer — not layers of importers and distributors each taking a margin.

Larger formats

The 5L tin brings the cost per litre down — the size Italian households actually buy.

Traceable origin

You’re paying for oil from a known mill in a known town — not for marketing.

Made to be used

Everyday pricing for everyday use. No gift-box theatre, no boutique premium.
